Screening of ‘Miss Representation’

August 2, 2012

I know that there are possibly only a small number of you who actually live in Sydney or thereabouts, but I’ve secured the license to screen the documentary:

Miss Representation

It’s on Monday 3rd September at 6.30pm and it will only cost $20 pp. This covers the cost of the license and the wonderful venue, Dendy Cinema Opera Quays – near the Opera House!

A pretty amazing deal, I think!

This is a great opportunity for parents to see the effects popular culture is having on both our girls AND boys. It also explores the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America, and challenges the media’s limited portrayal of what it means to be a powerful woman.

Spread the word!

If you, or any people you know, are interested in coming along, just look at the comments to this post, as it tells you how to pay to secure a seat.

I hope to see you there!

Paula

      (It’s a Commonwealth Bank account)

Fantastic! Just deposit the money and write your name as the reference – it’ll secure a seat. I don’t have ‘tickets’ as such – but I’ll have a list on the night. I’ll let you know when the payment clears.
      See you then 🙂

        Heya,
is it ok if I buy the tickets on the night, I have 2 people that aren’t sure if they can make it =)

      • questionsforus's avatar questionsforwomen said

Absolutely. I think we’ll be right with seats. If you like, I can hold your seat and just write on my list that you’ll pay on the night. Is it just you that’s definite at this point?

If we can’t make it on the night, is there any other time that we can watch this?

    • questionsforus's avatar questionsforwomen said

Hi Kirsty. Unfortunately, I only got the license for one viewing. I’ve heard of another screening but I’m not sure where. I’m finding out tomorrow and I’ll pass on the details to you when I find out.

I found this via Melinda Tankard Reist’s blog (http://melindatankardreist.com/). Would like to correct something, Dendy Cinemas is not at the actual Sydney Opera House, it is at Circular Quay (which is certainly near the Sydney Opera House).

    • questionsforus's avatar questionsforwomen said

Thanks Colin. Yes, it’s Opera Quays – I have written that for everything else I used to advertise for this, but hadn’t in this post. Thanks for the ‘heads up’ – I’ve corrected it now. 🙂

    • questionsforus's avatar questionsforwomen said

Hey Lana. I just wanted to check whether you send the payment, as it hasn’t come through yet. If you have, it might come through tomorrow. Not sure how banks work over the weekend! 🙂
Hope to see you tomorrow night.

Hi Paula, Can I please reserve seats for myself and two friends? We will pay on the night. Thanks so much for organising this!!
    Thanks, Ellen

    • questionsforus's avatar questionsforwomen said

No worries! Three seats under the name Ellen M?

      • EllenM's avatar EllenM said

        Yes please!!

      • EllenM's avatar EllenM said

Hi, is it alright if we are a little late? One of my friends has a meeting, and we are not confident that we will arrive before 6:30. What would happen if we arrive, say 10 minutes after? I really hope we are on time, but I’m just not sure.
